7Sage

7Sage was founded in 2012 by J.Y. Ping (Harvard Law graduate) and Alan Cheuk and operates out of New York City. 7Sage is built around J.Y. Ping's signature Blind Review method and video explanations for every officially released LSAT question. The platform offers a free trial, a $1/month plan for LSAC fee waiver recipients, and tiered monthly subscriptions — Core, Live, and Coach — making it one of the most accessible and highly rated LSAT prep options available. 7Sage has updated its curriculum and digital tester to fully support the August 2024 LSAT format change, which replaced the Logic Games section with a second scored Logical Reasoning section.

What Makes 7Sage Different

7Sage is best known for two things: J.Y. Ping's video explanations and the Blind Review method. J.Y. Ping, a Harvard Law graduate, personally recorded video explanations for every officially released LSAT question. The Blind Review method — 7Sage's signature study technique — teaches students to revisit flagged questions untimed after a practice test, reasoning through each one from scratch before checking the answer key. This process separates errors caused by time pressure from errors caused by conceptual misunderstanding, and is widely credited on r/LSAT and r/lawschooladmissions as the most impactful LSAT study technique available.

The platform also includes a Priority Assessment analytics system that surfaces which question types offer the highest potential point gain, per-question performance tracking across every PrepTest, and a built-in digital tester that replicates actual LSAT testing conditions including section timing, break intervals, and scratch paper.

7Sage hosts what is described as the largest active LSAT student community forum on the internet, and its Core subscription includes the full question explanation library, custom drills, and analytics tools.

2024 LSAT Format Change

Beginning in August 2024, LSAC permanently removed the Logic Games (Analytical Reasoning) section from the LSAT. The new three-section format consists of two scored Logical Reasoning sections and one Reading Comprehension section. 7Sage updated its digital tester to support both formats and revamped its Logical Reasoning curriculum to reflect the change. All legacy Logic Games video explanations remain accessible in the platform for students who want to practice with older PrepTests. 7Sage has historically been recognized as one of the strongest LSAT prep options for Logical Reasoning instruction, making it well-positioned for the new format.

Plans and Who 7Sage Is Best For

7Sage offers three subscription tiers:

  • Core ($69/month): Full curriculum, all official LSAT PrepTest explanations, analytics, Blind Review tools, and study plan. Best for disciplined self-starters.
  • Live (~$129/month): Everything in Core plus daily live classes with 99th-percentile instructors and a cohort community. Best for students who want structure without giving up flexibility.
  • Coach (~$299/month): Everything in Live plus two 30-minute 1-on-1 tutoring sessions per month (credits roll over up to one year) and a personalized study plan. Best for students targeting top scores who want individual accountability.

Students with an LSAC fee waiver can access the Core plan for $1/month. A limited free trial includes 29 video lessons and sample questions.

Note: Full access to LSAC's official PrepTest library requires a separate LawHub Advantage subscription ($120/year, paid directly to LSAC). This requirement is common across major LSAT prep platforms and is not a 7Sage-specific charge.
