What Makes Kaplan Different

Kaplan is best known for two things: scale and the LSAT Channel. As one of the oldest and largest test prep companies in the world, Kaplan has built an LSAT curriculum backed by decades of score data and proprietary analytics. The LSAT Channel — exclusive to Kaplan courses — provides hundreds of hours of live and on-demand workshops covering every section, question type, and skill level, taught by 99th-percentile instructors. This library is in addition to the standard course content and gives students access to specialized sessions on advanced topics and test-day strategy.

The platform also includes SmartReports, an analytics system that tracks performance across every practice question, identifies weak areas, and directs study time accordingly. Kaplan's QuizBank contains more than 7,500 questions, and students have access to the full library of released LSAT PrepTests with detailed explanations.

Kaplan's Higher Score Guarantee applies to its live and in-person courses: students who don't score higher can retake the course for free or receive a full refund. For students on the premium track with a baseline score of 160 or above, Kaplan guarantees a minimum score of 170; for students below 160, it guarantees a 10+ point improvement on the actual LSAT.

2024 LSAT Format Change

Beginning in August 2024, LSAC permanently removed the Logic Games (Analytical Reasoning) section from the LSAT. The new three-section format consists of two scored Logical Reasoning sections and one Reading Comprehension section. Kaplan updated its curriculum and digital tester to support the new format, expanding Logical Reasoning instruction to reflect the increased weight of that section. Legacy Logic Games materials remain available for students using older PrepTests. Kaplan has adjusted its LSAT Channel live workshop schedule to prioritize Logical Reasoning topics aligned with the new format.

Kaplan offers several product types:

• Self-Paced (~$799): 70+ hours of recorded video, 40 LSAT Channel episodes, full QuizBank access, PrepTest library with explanations, and SmartReports analytics. No Higher Score Guarantee. Best for disciplined self-starters on a budget.
• Online Course (~$1,099): Everything in Self-Paced plus live instructor sessions, full LSAT Channel access, and the Higher Score Guarantee. Best for students who want live instruction with scheduling flexibility.
• All Access (~$1,499): Combines the Online Course with additional live sessions and expanded LSAT Channel access. Best for students who want maximum content and support.
• Section-Specific Courses (~$299 each): Targeted 15+ hour courses for Logical Reasoning or Reading Comprehension individually. Best for students who have already started prep and need to shore up a specific section.
• Tutoring (from ~$2,300): One-on-one sessions with 99th-percentile instructors, combined with full platform access. Best for students targeting top scores who want personalized guidance.

Note: Access to LSAC's official PrepTest library requires a separate LawHub Advantage subscription ($120/year, paid directly to LSAC). This is a market-wide requirement and is not specific to Kaplan.
